Manikganj district is located near the capital city of Dhaka. The potential for tourism is huge due to its location. Despite the improved road connectivity from Dhaka to Manikganj, tourism in the district has not achieved the desired development due to various reasons. Manikganj is a district located near Dhaka. There are various materials to attract tourists here. Earlier, no government action was taken to improve the tourism industry in the district. 01. Baliati Palace, Saturnia The contribution of the zamindars of Bali in the history of antiquities of Manikganj district is noteworthy. The zamindars of Bali have left a legacy of more than a hundred years from the first half of the nineteenth century to the first half of the twentieth century which has especially enriched the antiquities of the district. 

The name of Bali spread in the country and abroad through Vrindavan Chandra Roy Chowdhury and Jagannath Roy Chowdhury, the two sons of Nityananda Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Pathan Bari. Radha Vallabh is still worshiped twice in Bali. In 1923, Zamindar Kishori Roy Chowdhury set up an allopathic charity hospital in Bali at his own expense. It is currently under government control. 

Zamindar Hiralal Roy Chowdhury built a garden house at Kaumara village near the entrance of Bali from Saturnia and there he built a recreation building in the middle of the night where beautiful dancers or recreational dancers used to dance and drink.

 02. Teota Zamindar Bari: The Teota Zamindar Bari of Shibalaya Upazila under Shibalaya Manikganj Upazila was the home of Babu Hemshankar Roy Chowdhury, Babu Joy Shankar Roy Chowdhury Ping and two brothers. They managed the zamindari at Teota. 

A total of 55 rooms of this zamindar house are now in a dilapidated condition and 56 river-breaking families are living illegally. Transportation: You have to go to Shibalaya by road from Manikganj. 03. Toyota Navaratna Math, Shivalaya: On the eve of the partition of India in 1947, the then zamindars left the country and moved to Calcutta, India, where they settled permanently. After the zamindars left, their nominal property was recorded in favor of the Bangladesh government.

The house has two ponds in the north and south-west corners and a government paved road running along the east side of the pond. Inside the building are two temples and a monastery; Which is known as "Manavaratna". It is completely worn out.

04. Matta Math of Manikganj The village of Matta, one and a half miles east of the present Manikganj Sadar, was once inhabited by powerful zamindars. Notable among them are Ramakrishna Sen and his son Prasanna Kumar Sen.

 In the history of antiquities of Manikganj, the contribution of the Gupta family of Matta village of Sadar upazila is recognized. The first man of this family was Shivananda Gupta. A total of 23 men have been identified up to Shivananda, Prabhas Gupta, Shishir Gupta and Prabodh Gupta. Shivananda Tapta, the founder of the Gupta dynasty, was a famous Kabiraj.

 He was the family physician of Pathan commander Mir Makim. It is believed that during the Pathan reign in Bangladesh, notable personalities of the Gupta dynasty of Matta prevailed in this area, just as their profound wisdom in herbal medicine is still widely used today. 05. Ramakrishna Mission Sebashram The Debashram of Ramakrishna Mission in Baliati village of Saturia upazila is a significant aspect in the history of antiquities of Manikganj. The Sebashram was established in 1910 by Sri Radhika Charan Adhikari alias Sri Swami Sundaranandaji Maharaj at the instigation of a socially conscious community. 

A total of ten monasteries and missions in Bangladesh are being recognized by the Central Monastery - this is one of them. Here the idol is worshiped in a beautiful pucca temple and there is a planetarium in the building adjacent to the temple. In 1331, Ramakrishna built a pucca idara for the Sebashram to preserve the memory of Dinendranath Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Baliati. Transportation: You can take a bus from Manikganj by road. 07. Shiva Siddheswari Temple The Shiva Siddheswari Temple was established during the reign of Queen Victoria. The Shiva Siddheswari temple in Manikganj is a shining example of antiquity in the district. There was a three-foot-tall stone Siddheshwari idol, a medium-sized white stone Shiva vehicle, a jagged and octagonal Durga idol, and some other sculptures. 

But all of them were stolen around 1971-72 AD. At present Siddheswari Shiva of Cement is being worshiped. The Shiva Siddheswari temple has no source of income of its own. The roof of the temple is about to collapse at any moment. At present, the management of the temple is going on through a 15-member local managing committee. The activities are being carried out by appointing a priest on the basis of monthly salary and residential facilities for daily worship.

07. Sri Anandamoyee Kalibari in Manikganj: Sri Anandamoyee Kalibari Temple was established in the town of Manikganj (before Tripti Simena Hall) in 1895-96. A three-room pucca building was constructed to house the idols of Sri Kalimata Shiva and Radha Krishna. 

The stone idol of Sri Anandamoyi Kalimaya is installed in the easternmost room of these rooms. At present, daily worship at Sri Anandamoyi Kali Mandir and stylish ceremonies at various special festivals are being conducted by selected committees and local priests. There is a system of appointing a priest on a monthly salary for a full-time puja by a committee of twenty-one members comprising ordinary members of the Hindu community and life members. The source of income of this temple is the donations of the devotees and the donations of the members. 

At present, in the days of Rath, fairs are held all over the city including the temple premises and from time to time Dharmasabha, Ashtaprahar, Namkirtan and Jatravinayadi are held in the temple.

07. Gauranga Math of Manikganj In 1925, Manmahen Roy Chowdhury, a new zamindar of Bali, established a famous branch of Baliati's famous and notable Gadai Gauranga Math in India to protect the memory of his late wife Indubala and Adar's Dulli Sunitibala. 

Manikganj is the pride of antiquity. However, during the independence struggle in 1971, Pakistani forces tried to demolish the monastery and demolished the stone mattress Gauranga. At one time, at the end of the year, worship and religious discussions were held in this monastery. Fans and admirers from far and wide used to gather here.

09. Narayan Sadhur Ashram Another monument of Narayan Sadhur Ashram in Matta village of Sadar upazila of Manikganj. The saint's house was in Orissa. 

The saint brought a large piece of stone from Orissa and set up an ashram. Stones and tridents are being worshiped here. The pucca building was built here in 1348. Devotees still gather here as a saint's ashram.

10 Most of the Muslim antiquities at Manikganj, the historic shrine and old mosque in the village of Machain, were established during the independent sultanate of Bengal and later during the Muslim rule. The mosque of Machain village is one of the few Jami mosques established at this time. Machain was a famous village during the independent sultanate. Here a saint used to sit on a bamboo platform and meditate spiritually. The name of this saint is Hazrat Shah Rattam. At present, visiting the shrine of Shah Rustam in Machain village is a matter of great respect to the people of Manikganj district and surrounding areas. The historical shrine and the old mosque of this Machain village are established as two special examples of Muslim antiquities in Manikganj.

11. Kabiraj Bari One and a half miles east of the present Manikganj Sadar, the village of Matta was once inhabited by powerful zamindars. 12. Bathaimuri Mazar:  This shrine is located in Ghior Upazila. Buried here are Afaz Uddin Pagla and his disciple Shariat Ullah. 13. Ishwar Chandra High School:  Saturnia Baliati Ishwar Chandra High School in Saturnia Upazila is one of the antiquities of Manikganj. The school was named Ishwar Chandra High School after Ishwar Chandra Roy Chowdhury, the zamindar of Baliati. Harendra Kumar Roy Chowdhury, son of Ishwar Chandra, established the clan in 1915-16. The school was first named Ishwar Chandra High English Flower.


 Harendra Kumar Chowdhury built the long and beautiful pucca building of the school at a cost of about fifty thousand rupees. At present, the school, which is associated with the antiquities of Manikganj, is being run by the local school committee. Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Saturia is acting as the Chairman of the School Committee.
